Emergency & Patient Safety Notice
This directory helps with hospital location and contact information. It is not an emergency service, triage tool, medical hotline or secure patient portal.

This Website Is Not for Emergencies
In Canada, call 911 for life-threatening emergencies where available. Some remote or local areas may have specific emergency numbers; use the emergency number provided by your local authority. Do not use canadahospitals.org/ to decide whether to seek urgent care.
When to Use Official Health Lines
Many provinces and territories offer public health advice lines, telehealth services or 811-style services. These services vary by province/territory. canadahospitals.org/ may link to them when official, but we do not operate those services and cannot interpret symptoms.
Hospital Emergency Department Information
When a hospital page mentions an emergency department, that note must come from official hospital or health authority information. Even then, readers should confirm current status directly if possible because service availability, wait times, entrance instructions and diversion status may change.
Patient Safety and Privacy
- Do not email us personal medical details, health-card numbers, test results or images.
- Do not rely on directory information for urgent clinical decisions.
- Confirm appointment time, department location and entrance instructions directly with the hospital.
- Use official hospital portals for patient records, appointment messages and secure communication.
What This Notice Does Not Do
This page is not a medical triage guide, patient-rights manual or replacement for provincial/territorial emergency guidance. It exists to make the boundary of this directory clear.
