Sunnybrook has more than one site. The main hospital and Emergency Department are at Bayview Campus, but some care may be at Holland Centre, St. John’s Rehab or a community location.

Sunnybrook specialty clinics usually do not work like walk-in clinics. Many visits start with a referral, then the clinic reviews the referral and contacts the patient or the referring provider.

For a new referral

• Ask your family doctor, nurse practitioner or specialist whether the referral has been sent.
• Confirm the exact Sunnybrook program or clinic name.
• Ask whether Sunnybrook will call you directly or respond to the referring office.
• Keep your voicemail clear because hospital calls may come from a general number.
• If you receive a letter, check the site, wing, floor, room, arrival time and preparation instructions.

For an existing appointment

• Use the direct clinic number from your letter when available.
• Use MyChart to view appointment and record information where available.
• Call early if you need to cancel, reschedule or ask about medication/fasting instructions.
• Arrive early for parking, registration, elevators and wayfinding.
• Bring a support person if the patient needs help with mobility, language, memory or instructions.

Sunnybrook states that its Emergency Department is located only at Bayview Campus. Other Sunnybrook sites are not the correct place for emergency assessment.

Bayview Campus parking rates, passes and local arrival tips

Sunnybrook’s Bayview Campus has paid parking options, including short-stay rates, full-day options and weekly passes. Parking access can change during construction, so check signs and the official parking page before travel.

• Plan extra time because the Bayview Campus is large.
• If mobility is limited, drop the patient near the correct entrance before parking.
• Do not rely on street parking for appointments; tickets and time limits can be more stressful than paid parking.
• If travelling from Northern Ontario, check Ontario’s Northern Health Travel Grant eligibility and keep travel/appointment documents.

OHIP coverage, hospital room fees and possible patient costs
